JD 2010C dozer hydraulic problem

Post by deleon361 » Sun Mar 02, 2014 1:56 pm

Ok I bought a 1964 2010 dozer everything was working fine until I noticed my blade was having trouble lifting up. Where the control lever is at to lift up it makes like a hesitating noise when trying to lift the blade and it goes up real slow but lowers fine. Was wondering if maybe anyone might have a solution and yes was working fine when is started using it.
Thanks,
Deleon361

Are you sure you have plenty of hydraulic fluid in the system? Clean filter?

Yes has exactly what it needs and to be honest where would the filter be located?

When you lower the blade, does the down pressure work slowly like the lift? gregjo1948

No down pressure works exactly the way it needs to just having trouble lifting the blade. Maybe if I get a chance I'll try and make a video of it operating and post a link.

Might be in valve body linkage adjustment. rgegjo1948

Are you sure there isn't water in the system? The hestiation when lifting but still having downforce that you describe sounds just like when there is water contamination. The water won't be obvious prior to startup but will be a milky color once it has ran a little bit.

there are two filters on a 2010 dozer (with 6 way and no rear pump ) if you have HLR trans the filter that is plugged is on the right side below your right foot it has 3 bolts and a temp gauge in the cover look at side of the belly pan drain trans pull cover there is a spring behind the cover the metal filter has a pull wire..... pull it out you will find that it is very plugged..... clean with fine wire brush diesel fuel and final wash with carb cleaner .....very hard to get completely cleaned it will look cleaned but will not be the first time..... look and make sure that the open end of the filter still has a flat rubber (for lack of better term) gasket if not it will be sucked half way to the pump if it is lose clean thoroughly and get some 3m weather strip adhesive and reconnect it

Well guys changed hydraulic oil and cleaned filter I guess the guy I bought it from had it sitting for awhile cuz it looked like milk when I drained the hydraulic oil and a bunch of clumps came out. So everything is back to normal and all I need to check now is right steering clutch turns slow

Turning slow to the right could also be left clutch slipping. gregjo1948

Yea I changed the hlr filter but now just yesterday I have a new problem.
The problem now is I'm losing coolant and smell it burning through the muffler anybody know what could be the problem?
Thanks

Possibly a blown head gasket.
If it sits for a few days is it hard to start and smoke white when it first starts?
