440 with 2-53 Detroit Diesel

Post by JD1104x4 » Fri Mar 21, 2014 6:16 pm

Going to tune up a 2-53 Detroit, when you set the injectors do you use the same gauge for the S-35 and N35 injector? Also when you rebuild the 2-53 can anyone show me the engine in a stand. Do you need an adapter?

Should be the same gauge as far as I know.
Studs are likely too short to fit most engine stands, but you could pull them out and put longer ones in for the same of working on it.

I second what Lavoy says. I do know that I have the N series injectors and used the tool that you're talking about for the S series and mine fires up well.

I didn't put mine on a stand because I was afraid a regular stand wouldn't hold that engine, it's heavy.
I put mine on a small cart and that worked pretty well, however I didn't do a full rebuild on it.
