Different push rods for a M and 40c?

Post by Cajun Homesteader » Tue May 13, 2014 8:40 pm

I tore my 1953 40C ser#60019 engine down and it had a bent push rod. so I bought 4 rods off of ebay, in the description it said they would fit a 40. The ones that came out of my 40C are about 1/4" longer and the top is bigger than the ones I purchased. Also my dipstick tube was rusted off at the engine block, how do you get the old one out and the new one in. And I am looking for a new or use dipstick and tube.

Unfortunately, a substantial amount of the parts you see on Ebay fit from MC through 850J whether they do or not. I know this sounds harsh, but that is my experience in what I see in most of the listing. Either a total lack of knowledge, or a total lack of caring if they describe things accurately.
