Hydraulic system

Post by Bernard Cloutier » Sun Oct 05, 2014 10:15 am

Hello
I know the site since i already changed the final drives on my JD 350 straight loader 1966. With the help of people on this site and especially André Grondin from Québec Montréal.The other day i changed the fuel filter and i lifted the boom in the air to gain access to parts. The hydraulic oïl level was low and i let the bull run to the point that the oïl has started to overheat and it probably blew few o rings of the hydraulic valves. I stopped the engine immediately to cool the system.then i removed the wire mesh filter of the hydraulic tank and i picked up 4 or 5 o rings of different color. I try again and the pump power continuously to the point of slowing down the engine. I must use the lever to pressure down and the engine starts to turn down normally. The pump does not appear to be damaged. In the book the pump is made to operate at about 2000 lbs, but i guess the pump is made to pump more but the bypass system is damaged so the pressure goes up! Do you think the pump is damaged? Is it possible to rebuilt the hydraulic valve in place or it's better to remove it and have it rebuilt by pros? There is not much room to remove the hydraulic valve . Another thing to consider is that the bulldozer is in the woods. Thank yo in advance....
