I'm new to this. I have a 420c that I don't know anything about. I'm 23 and never messed with any of these. It was my grandpas and it been apart longer than I can remember and I'm 23.He pulled the engine out 15 or 20 years to rebuild the engine and it never got back together. I'm trying to put it back together from pics I've seen. I just got the engine built and installed with a new clutch. I'm pulling on firing it up this weekend and see what happens.

What you have is a 5 roller 420 with #62 blade. Serial number will be on the LH side of the center section, kind of by the sediment bowl.

I hope you get her running!! Sounds like a good project and should be a great little machine once you get her all buttoned up and working.

Thanks for telling me about the track I haven't caught that. Thanks for the info Mr. Lavory and thanks to everyone else also. So it has four foward gears. Did they do alot of 4 speed with a reverser?

It tells you that your 420 is a 1958 model:

It is also helpful to know because sometimes parts are different within the same model for different serial number ranges or are interchangeable between different models. Lavoy or others can better tell you that for a 420, or you can do some searches of the archived posts on here for some of that information.
