Canopy and/or winch off of 440 crawler for sale

Post by Lavoy » Sat Jul 21, 2012 8:54 pm

For Sale: Canopy and/or winch off of the 440 crawler I just brought home. The canopy is off of a 1010 or 350, but very professional job of adapting to fit a 440, not a single butcher job required to mount.
The winch appears to be a late model Ramsey or Warn PTO drive winch like used on Army jeep or tow truck type application. In this application, they were driving it with a sprocket and chain off of the PTO shaft. In a vehicle application, they drove directly off of the trans or tranfer case PTO.
I can palletize and ship pretty much anywhere in the continental US.
I will have more pics shortly, but check the pics in the show and tell section under "My new toy" for now.

How much were you asking for the winch, would need a PTO shaft assembly also to run the winch.

$500, yes you would need the PTO as well.

Winch

Post by Timberwolf13 » Mon Nov 18, 2013 7:53 pm

Is the winch still available? I've got a 53 model 40c and I can't find any of the gearmatic 8a's or that type so I've been thinking of trying this type of setup. Will this work on 40c? And also, what are the pros and cons of this type setup? Is it any more rough on the pto etc? New to this world so any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks for your time

Yes it is available, yes it will work on a 40, may require some changes to mounting setup, but it is all standard metal shapes and sizes.
It will put some side load on the PTO, but this is the same way some of the aftermarket winches were driven in the first place.

Thanks for the quick reply. Any idea what the capacity of the winch is? I am very interested, what kind of shipping prices we looking at to TN?

Not sure, usually I have seen that size of winch rated in the 8,000 to 12,000 range.
Hard to guess on shipping, but off the cuff, $250-$350.

Great to hear. Seems like that'll save me some time and money in comparison to building my own rig like it from scratch. My 40c is a good candidate for this setup, it already has pto shaft and a drawbar.
I'll let you know as soon as I've got the money together and we'll proceed to the next step. Thanks a ton.
