Seat for JD 40 C needed
Seat for JD 40 C needed
Hello, this is my first post here. I have a 1953, JD 40-C bulldozer. I am giving it some long needed repairs and am beginning my quest, here.....for advice on where to find some of the parts I need.
I will be needing a seat assemble complete. This is what I have to work with:
THIS...is what I want to end up with (image taked from another thread on this site.)
I am looking to purchase a brush guard (the one made of plate steel with all the small holes) for my grill and I notice there are many JD's sitting around with these on them.
The PTO that mounts on the rear of the tractor is something I am also looking for.
Any help would be appreciated.

Outstanding...I have gone to JD heaven. Thank you for the fast reply.
On the seat...I will need everything ...above...what is pictured in the image of my 40-C. THAT, I will remove, press straight and repair.
Being new here...how do we begin?
Lavoy- seat
Lavoy- just curious, is that a standard or delux seat base? I would like to buy the same thing with a set of cuhions. Thanks

Quick hey to all as I've been M.I.A. for awhile.
I should comment on the seat as it's on my crawler. The piece that mounts on the transmission is used JD original as well as the seat frame. The slide that mounts the two together is new from Lavoy.
Let me just say rebuilding the used to turn out as that seat did.. while being a fun two days in the shop and looking amazing now.. I'll never do it again. Lavoy warned me about this but being young and foolish and on a very tight budget I opted to rebuild a used one.
I can't remember how many pictures I posted in the original thread but I have several more uploaded at: http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y49/NC ... ?start=all just scroll through the photos as they are toward the back. You can even see that we ended up building new uprights for the back rest.
Good luck with your project.
