JD 350 track on a JD 440

Post by Cold Iron » Fri Oct 31, 2008 11:30 pm

Can anyone tell me if the rails(chains) off of a JD 350 will work on a JD 440? Are the bushing diameter and the pitch the same? I can get a great price on a set of track chains for a 350 but don't have any leads on a set of drive sprockets.

The pitch is the same but the pin and bushing diameter is larger on the 350 chain. This necessitates finding a 350 sprocket weld on "ring" to weld onto the 440 sprocket after torching the old teeth off. I understand finding these is hit and miss. Check with Lavoy.

Yes it will work on a 420 too, but the track needs to be shortened by a link. I just sold a 350 setup to a customer a few months back to put on a 440 loader.
Rims are sporadic, and given the quality of the last two sets I had, I have stopped bringing them in. For now, I am making my own from 350 sprockets.
