JD 450

Post by JimInOz » Sun Dec 14, 2008 10:15 pm

Hi all....just joined the site & enjoying the varied topics.

I have a customer who owns a JD450 dozer,& is looking to obtain some track rollers, chains, plates & recoil assembly.
The customer is a non-profit scout group,so I'm trying to help them out as much as I can .
I need to get the specs for both rollers & chains ( widths, bush size pitch)...so I know what I'm looking for when sourcing these parts.
Can anyone here provide these specs?
Also, does anyone know if a chain or roller from other machines, will fit the 450.? ( ie Cat D4,Case 450,etc..)

I was quoted these machine numbers: MO 14947 & 15F3MO14947

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Look into other manufacturers of undercarage parts as well .Such as Bearco and Itala track you may find Japanese and Korean but watch most of them are metric and don't fit nice .My cousin got two 345 Cat excavators and undercarage rebuilt in Sydney before going to his mine in Vietnam and he had Itala Track tracks installed but I don't know where in Sydney he got this done .That was in 02 so it was a while ago and he always goes for the best deal so that was no doubt the cheepest u/c in western Australia .Compare quality some tracks are better used as boat ancors . Deeres excavators can take the metric but Deeres dozers tend to argue with the metric tracks for a life time .We got some Japanese track on a 450H here and got poor life out of them [700 or 800 hours only ]We get 3500 to 4500 normaly so they were not worth the install or down time .Digitup.

Hi DigItUp,
I wonder if your 450H chains were Jap or Chinese??
I can source stuff from Korea, but the conversion rate & Customs crap are a deal killer.
I think I need those specs,if anyone has them.
The local suppliers are not keen to help,as usual.

What I'm trying to do is find a used set that will fit,so I need the specs to see if they will interchange with a Cat,IH,Case, etc.

I looked that up they were Jap scrap and the dealer is out of business now .See if you can find a set of tracks at a industrial or tractor wrecker .I don't know of any in your neck of the woods .I got a EL120 excavator cab once from an outfit named Smith in Northern Australia they were great guys to deal with but I think they are all Cat .That had to be in the late eightys .As long as the pitch is right and the width between the rails enough you should be OK how are the rollers and sprockets .Hitachi made some tracks for Deere also with there name on the rails so look for a Hitachi dealer . Is there much John Deere industrial in Australia I have a friend working there that was a neighbouring drainage contractor Till several years ago .He came in the shop one day and sold the business to me bought a house in town and took off to down under to drive truck and see the country .I see him every year at Christmas time he should be back any day now .Digitup.
