steerin brake?
steerin brake?
I'm a newbie to this site but hope someone can help. my mc will steer but it takes a long time of pulling on the steering brakes. i pull and release and pull and release for 15 or 20 min. and then it works fine. can someone tell me its not serious!!! and just needs some sort of adjustment. any advice would be appreciated.
I would suspect that the steering clutch plates are rusty and are not releasing. I don't think there will be a easy fix. DON'T BE TEMPTED TO PUT OIL IN THE CLUTCH HOUSINGS! that will mess everything up.
It may get better with a lot of use. If it stored outdoors, try and get it inside or covered.
Once you get the tracks off it is not that bad of a job to take it all apart and clean it all up and get it wotrking.
Some of the other guys on hera may have some ideas for you.
Good Luck

The problem with the oil is if it gets on the clutch paltes and the fiber plates get oil on them, then the clutches will slip and WILL need to be replaced. There are alot of old posts on here about oil on the clutch plates.
If you just put a bit on the linkage you may be all right.
Good luck
