CAUTION, new Deere injectors

Post by Lavoy » Thu Jan 15, 2009 9:30 am

Well, just got a call from my injection shop, and my $900 worth of new John Deere 1010 injector tips are junk. They think they could salvage one out of the four, but are worried about what the pattern would look like if they got the pressure down to spec. Given that 4 out of 4 failed, I would have to assume that getting 4 more would be a waste of time too. What a JOKE, I am going to end up lighting this thing of fire yet!

hi lavoy, i am buying a early 1010 diesel crawler with a bad engine, its complete minus the liner plate. the guy said NO 1 cylinder broke lose and tore a chunk out of the block. i am installing a later 1010 diesel engine so i wont need the injectors. if interested in them let me know.

Andrew,
Will do, should know tomorrow what they found out. It seems that some of the 560 Internationals used a large micro tip, so they are checking to see what they have, and if they can build me 4 injectors.

boy, that 1010 is really rattling your chain, some machines just have a nack of busting your chops when you work on them.

I hope you get that bugger going soon for your sake and the machine's well being......don't get the cuttin torch out yet!!!!

Labvoy,
There is a little jewel of a 1010 on ebay @ $500, no bids, but reserve not met. Maybe a parts machine?

Now it is almost a matter of principle. I have brought far worse crawlers back to life, so I am bound and determined to make this one live. What sucks is it really is a pretty nice crawler, or I would have just killed it in the first place, and never tried to fix it. Now, while I have been waiting on injectors and walking around the little pig, I keep piddling with more and more stuff. So far, I have rewired it, new halogen headlights and taillight, new 1 wire alternator, light switch, gauges, fixed the dash light, and about 10 lbs of broken bolts and such. Both upper idlers and shafts were junk, so replaced them. Flipped the cutting edge and welded up some cracks. Put new wedges in the tilt michanism on the blade, probably make new dozer pins tonight, just found out no injectors again. As if the injector pump and injectors don't break me, all the rest of the trikets might.
