Serial number plate

Post by 420cbrett » Tue Jan 27, 2009 7:47 am

I have a 40 crawler that is missing the serial number plate. I have the origional operators manual and luckily the owner who bought it new wrote the serial number down with the date when he bought it new in 1954. Is there any way to get a reproduction plate or will I just have to rob one off a parts tractor?

You might do a search over on the Yesterday's tractor website for a replacement tag. I know there is way to get a replacement tag but you have to get the John Deere area factory rep involved. The older tractors have no way to get the correct tag but the newer ones can be done from what I recall. It takes some time but a legit tag can be done. Hopefully yours is new enough. JimO
