what size battery

i can`t find in the manual what size battery to use in my jd 1010 gas,i forgot to take it out of the dozer before winter and its at the cabin 120 miles away,thanks in advance for the help.about how many cold cranking amps would i need for the JD 1010-4 cylinder gas

A group 24 automotive battery will fit. I would get an 800CCA battery give or take.

Hi Roofdog-

Not to speak for Lavoy, but it probably wouldn't need to be a deep cycle battery as it would be continuously charged by either the generator or alternator, as long as those systems are working properly.

However I would suggest making sure the battery is of a tractor/ commercial/ industrial type as I believe they come with slightly stronger plates that can handle shock load/vibration a little better than a standard automotive or light truck battery at your auto parts store.

In any case, it always seems like my lead acid batteries last exactly two weeks after the warranty expires no matter how much preventive maintenance I do to them. :lol:
(1) JD Straight 450 crawler dozer with manual outside blade; (2) JD 2010 diesel crawler loaders; (1) JD 2010 diesel dozer with hydraulic 6-way blade; (2) Model 50 backhoe attachments, misc. other construction equipment

thanks Tigerhaze,maybe i can get my JD running this year if i can get all my fixes together before i start working on it.
