Well, I went to order all my bearings and stuff from my local Deere dealer. HOLY SMOKES!!! Over $500.00 for the bearings alone! So I went to The Big Bearing store and got all my bearings for $174.00. I highly recommend these guys. Just google the name and you should find them.

MC Left final drive

Post by Mr. B » Thu Apr 30, 2009 8:52 am

My MC hopefuly will be teared down tomarow and plan on using our local bearing company also. They saved me money on my ATV Hub. The finals I read on the site seem to be more on the left. I work on the hills with the left on the low side is the weight shift why the (L) goes more often? For those that have not had the probluem when you hear the track snap dont wait like I did when it wont move anymore. Still got snow Mr. B Lorraine NY

I must regrettably rescind my recommendation of The Big Bearing Store/aka Carnell Sales Inc of Germantown Tn. Those jokers have had my money since 5/1/09 and I'm STILL waiting on 2 bearings. It's been a total SNAFU from the word go. I finally resorted to doing my "crazy customer" act, screaming at the guy on the phone. I hate doing that.

Well, just an update. The last of the bearings got here and I still need some seals and the throwout bearings. I've been up to my ears on roofing, haying, the kids house and our house, plus normal summertime stuff like mowing the lawn, etc. I have spent a lot of time on the 1010 CLB digging septic tank holes and whatnot. The old girl is slow, but it's still a lot faster than a shovel. The hydraulic filter keeps plugging. If I shut the rig down for a minute I can restart and go right back to it but eventually I start getting that "the pump isn't getting enough oil" feeling. I cleaned the big tank filter, but I'm wondering if it might no be that smaller filter down under your right foot as you sit in the seat, the one that looks like a real bear to get to. I'm not sure that is for the hydraulics or the transmission hydraulics.

Anyway, I'm still plugging away!

Another update- I ordered brake band material from McMaster-Carr. FYI- 1/4" is too thick!!! I've remeasured and am going to reorder 3/16"x 1.5" semi metallic material.

Other than that I've got most of one side ready to re assemble. It's been a long cold winter here and I was just too busy to work on it. Got the seals and throwout bearing from JD that I needed.

Only thing I can think of I still need is to look into the preload setting.

The 3/16" banding worked fine. Local shop riveted it to the band, it all seems to fit well. Just have to find time to start putting it all back together.

Got the left side final back together and cleaned up. Reinstalling went better than I'd hoped. Had it on on half and hour or so. Had help from one of my boys. Then we did the bearings on the right side but got called away before I could get the clutch put back together.

It's getting there!

Got the right side done, adjusted the track carriers, lubed her up and away she went!!!! Steers a LOT better, still some adjusting to do, but overall I can feel the difference.

Glad I did it. It wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be.
