Oil leak at governor vent hole

Post by Pistonman » Sun Apr 12, 2009 12:15 am

Good evening, gentlemen. Today I decided to pull my generator for a rebuild, and ended up pulling the radiator to get the lower bolt out.
I have only had this 1956 420C for about a month, and have been making repairs. My question is this, the front of the engine was covered with a thick oil and dust buildup, (looks like hyd tube leaks at the pump) but it is clean at and below the vent hole on the lower left corner of the governor. (lower right looking at the front of the engine) I don't see anything but a gasket and a shaft seal. Trying to figure out why it is leaking out the vent/weep hole. Is this normal? Thanks.

No vent hole in the governor, only thing I can think of is you are looking at one of the dowel holes. If so, it is likely the gasket leaking.

It must be a dowel hole, I have not pulled it yet. I will pm for parts, thanks.

Just an update, the dowel pin was missing from the lower corner.
