not quite there yet on steering clutch
As you know this a slow process of getting everything to go your way when working on the steering clutches... My question today is "How do I get the dowel pins out the housing that holds the drawbar in place?" Today I managed to get the 4 bolts out that hold the crossmember to the assembly but those stubborn draw bar dowels are stuck good. After I get the round rod for the hanger I 'll be ready to pull the assembly( I think) if it goes half right I think Ill use a engine puller lift to do the lifting, any suggestions so far. [/code]

That's usually the way you do it. If you need to get them out, they are threaded 5/8" coarse on the inside. Thread a bolt in a few turns, and then knock them out with a long punch from the outside.

final on the bench
WELL it was a good day when you have no cuts, gouges,or smashed fingers or toes. The left side final drive is on the work bench as we speak. All in all it wasn't as dificult as I thought it would be but thats just me talking, for you guys that have done this more than a couple of times it probable old hat to you. Now all that is left to do is tear the guts out of it and then but it all back togother. If some of you have any helpful hints or easier ways to finish this I"M ALL EARS!!! THANK YOU

1/2 " rod no go
yeah I almost forgot to say the 1/2 " rod used for the hanger was a NO GO the holes weren't big enough and yes I used !/2"..I threw that away and used a tow strap and wrapped it around the bottom of the final and wired the top to the strap and jacked and with the engine hoist and with a few twist and puls it came right out. I don't quite understand the 1/2 " rod deal the only hole that was big enough was a dowel hole on the middle hole on the left.????????????
