steering clutch disassembly finally done

Post by Randy Richards » Sat Jun 20, 2009 7:24 pm

Just when you're ready to make the turn and you're thinking about putting it back together, up pops something new to write about... Now that the left final is torn down and after removing the brake liner and I started looking around and cleanung the crud out , I found that the steering lever has an abnormal amount of wear in the cross shaft that holds the insides together. Maybe the crud was holding the insides together. What should I do, replace the shaft or let the sleeping dog lie? Looking back this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but then I still have to put it back together too. Thanks for all the advice from all of you guys!!!!!!

Randy,
In that case, I normally replace the shaft. Put in a new bushing at the same time, and they tighten back up to new.
