40c sprockets

Post by Swawpy » Sun May 03, 2009 12:33 pm

Need to repair or replace both sprockets on a 40c, and was wondering; are just the outer "rings" available to weld on, or have to find complete new or used?

Thanks

Thanks Lavoy and all. I am still trying to determine just how bad tracks are. Sprockets are definately shot and one idler has a few chunks out of the ridges. I havent measured any bushings, but they look pretty flat and dont look to bad on the outside at all. I can rock every link by hand and feel at least 1/8" of slop.

Is it possible to weld the idlers up and grind even just where I filled?

And I found that 23.51 is 100% worn for a 420, what is the limit for a 40? I measured 23 1/8. I have 31 pads. And took off TE235Y sprockets. Never thrown a track and has plenty adjustment.

This is mostly a toy that gets maybe 30-40 hours a year and just looking to get by with it.

Thanks to everyone, and Happy 4th!

Also- Found a local ad advertising 21 new pins and bushings for a 420, M2259T and M2559T. Wants $150 if anyone is interested.

Lavoy- I sent an email with info. Do you happen to know the wear limit rail measurement for a 40c?

Thanks

Got the e-mail, thanks. No, I don't have specs on the 40, sorry. Only thing that would likely be the same is pitch, 5.75". Across 4 links, 23" would be new, 23.5" is 100% worn.
