data plate
data plate
Have 450B with no data plate. engine has been changed and it also has no data plate. Have seen several references to this and that J D will fix. Been to local deere construction dealer and got no help at all. Said number hidden on frame somewhere but made no attempt to get info on where to look. Also read post about someone had machine with plate that said duplicate or something to that effect. Need number for insurance and parts. Do know that plate on machine was on battery box so serial will be after 142200. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. Pete
Serial Number
My data plates were missing too. (Except on the backhoe)
Deere dealer told me on a 450B the last six digits of the serial number were stamped on the left frame rail near the back.
Will have to remove the hoe to see if this info is correct.

Don't go to the dealer they don't care because they don't want to do something for nothing Just go directly to Deere they will do the leg work [you will need proof of purchase].Your local Deere Industrial dealer doesn't want to even find parts for a machine older than a G series dozer .I don't have the contact but I know that there is someone at Deere that will help you out.Cat has the same thing for their s/n program and neither like unplated machines out there with their name on them .Don't expect to find people that know what they are doing right now I find there are too many holiday heads and summer students at this time .I bought a machine three weeks ago and never saw it so I started looking and found one 6G cheaper else where and put it to work Thursday .Monday the sales man showed up mad as hell just back from holidays .I hate this time of year when you are trying to get straight answers and unusual jobs done .Good luck Digitup.
It should actually be something like 450CB C for the crawler tractor version then the B for series after this is why some think they have a C series when they don't I see it all too often with the 550 series when someone has a 550 or a 550 A series or B series calling it a 550C of which there is no such beast in the Deere stable .There is actually an other letter for a crawler loader configuration. We had a contractor up in this area that had two or three crawler loaders built for him yearly and they were wide long track crawler loaders being speck built and odd ball as heck with extended loader arms and wider buckets for the 30 inch tracks they had a different letter for there build and it was the first digit after model#and series after that . .Digitup.

I think I may have asked this before, but how willing is Deere to produce a S/N plate for an older crawler (2010) if I have no idea of the exact year and just have a bill of sale? Unfortunately the older 2010s had the serial number on the engine block and mine has been replaced.
Thanks

Went to deere.com and got e-mail next day with instructions on process of replacing plate. Called local dealer today with info and was amazed at difference in attitude from first time asked about serial number. Anyway, talked to local and less than hour later rep from deere called with info on where and what to look for. Don't have number yet but feel confident will get it. Thanks for help and info. Will keep up with post and maybe can help someone else sometime. Thanks again. Pete
That is the thing Pete you will find that very few around Deere know or care but if the right channels are found things happen.I had to deal with it and you need some patience on that job of which I have none some days ,My old 450B had the s/n plate on the battery box front and while pushing farrowing crates in a burnt out pig barn of all things and not watching all around me a piece of steel popped up and scraped off the plate .I had bought the dozer from my local dealer and I inquired with the manager several weeks later a mechanic put a new plate on no charge no hassle That was a heck of a long time ago they may charge for that now but it should be worth it . I know Deere and Cat don't like units out there without the plate .Tell us how you get along with this .Digitup.
Thought would give update on I D plate. As some of you know I started this quest in July of this year, 7th or 8th, and by third week of August the Deere rep called. Said he had plate and would be in area again in couple weeks to install it on machine. Great, not even two months
. Didn't hear from him for month so called him to see what was up
. Said just hadn't gotton back through this area yet. O K. "Can you tell me number so I can get insurance?" Said didn't have with him but would call. Nada. There went September
. Called again first part October, no answer so left message. No return call. Called once a week since end of October. Would leave message but never get call back. Tired of this
. Dug out number at Deere and called, got no answer, no answering machine
. Changed last digit of number and got man that worked there but wasn't in that part and didn't know who to talk with but would find out something and call back. Did, did and did! He did find out who to talk to and they got in touch with local dealer and they called wanting to know what they could do to help. He did call back. Dealer got in touch with rep and he mailed tag to them. They are coming in morning to attach to machine. Took most of six months now but finally will get finished
. Hope never have to do this again but if I do will call more often and higher up the ladder. Sorry about length but short as could tell story.

They actually have became a bunch of lunk heads around that organization .I have a 550J that was to be fixed in November Warranty was up Dec 20th they want to send me the bill for repair now .The sales man was in to talk this over and we were putting the company logo on a new Cat 320Dlc excavator right beside it as he was explaining that he can do this .I told him to think twice or get payed once!!.He never caught on .Digitup.
