Threw my right track again.

I had the right track come off the machine again last nite. When I first brought the machine home the right track came off so I tightened up the tracks and it worked fine for a while but while I digging some dirt by the edge of the pond last nite the track came off again. For those of you with more experience with track machines, will a worn drive sprocket cause the track to come off? The track chain is not overly worn and the rollers are good Both times it came off the sprocket. So now the machine is in 6" of muck and I have to have my buddy come over with a 350 or similar sized cat he has and pull me out to a dry spot to re-track it. Anyone know of a good source for a rear sprocket?

if every thing is in usable wear, check your track frame allignment to the spocket. or the chain to sprocket pitch way off, then could be climbing off.

Another possibility, broken track pin. Look for space or slightly different angle between the front/back edges of 2 pads. The pins usually shear inside the rail, so you might not notice it from the side.

Worn bearings letting the sprocket tilt out will do it too.

Do you know if the adjuster loosened up before it slipped off? If the track gets a bunch of slack in it it is pretty easy for it to slip off while making a turn. Usually though it would stay on if moving in a straight line when loose unless out of alignment for the reasons people had stated above.

Check the bottom roller closest to the sprocket for wear or damage.

The first time it came off I assumed it was because of the loose chain. I'll check everything good this time as the track will be totally off. One thing I didn't think of is one links has a piece of round bar that somebody drove in in lieu of a pin and bushing and it is sloppy as all get out when the chain is loose. I will correct that and check the things that were suggested on the above posts. Thanks to all that replied.

Are you sure this isn't where the master pin is supposed to be? You didn't say which cralwer you have but it may be that someone substituted a bar for the master pin. If so, you may be able to get a new master pin to correct that issue.

I didn't know there was a "master link" where you could break the tracks down. The pin that's in there defenatly doesn't belong there. It's a piece of 1" round bar peened over one side and bent over on the other and is very sloppy.
