Hey KenP, I did try a hammer before only just hit it near the end close to the oil seal where the ram goes in. I thought if I could cause it to cock a little bit it might break it loose. Ended up denting it up a bit and put a small crack in the very end around the perimeter of the seal. I hope that doesn't mean it will to toast soon anyway. I was glad to see Lavoy say that you can still get new ones. I think you are correct, I didn't apply a lot of heat and my seal is a high temp urathane which was supposed to be good to at least 350 I think.

I looked in my service manual and it mentioned to only use a grease gun that is able of producing 8000psi and to take your grease fitting out and plumb it direct. Now my question is how to do you get the adjusting rod off the machine? i was told it just pulls off the tensioner spring mount but it doesn't on mine I can get the new rod as long as my yoke is good for 125 dollars after market. My adjusting rod is broke in half and i threw the track in the pond 2 weeks ago what a mess! working like a mad man to get it back on before the rains came in.

Just an FYI, the aftermarket rods do not work unless you bore the inside of the barrel out to a new diameter.

I cracked a housing with the high pressure grease gun pumped to the max [12000 lbs is what it was to produce ]on one of my 21B Allis's with one of my small excavators pulling on it like crazy as well .It spit grease only two inches out the crack the force threw dirt from the track to the hood and sent the neighbors dog home never to return again and believe it or not at that height you instinctively check to see that their wasn't a hole blown in the crotch of your jeans and the boys are OK! I just found a new seal kit and a good used adjuster and it works great .The neighbor on the other hand has a gun shy hunting dog .Digitup.
