Hi,I finally started to put my early 440IC back together.I have new clutch kits for both sides but have run into a problem on one side.Apparently the final drive housing was cracked and welded at some point and never set up properly.I believe this caused what is now a worn and chipped Bullgear as well as wear on the backside of the housing.I have an Industrial yellow 420-c as a parts machine and am wondering if the Bullgears are interchangeable. Both machines are 1958 I believe, but different cast numbers on each.I think the 440 is 55 teeth but have not extracted the 420 gear as yet.I read that a 420 final drive will work but housings are different configurations, the 440 with the side frame reinforcing and 420 without. If someone could shed some light on the subject I would appreciate it greatly.
Also,Iwas wondering if the 90 loader on the 420-c would bolt on to the 440-c or do I need a 91 for this machine?
Thanks for the expert adice in advance!! :

Finaldrive issuses
Thanks Lavoy,I was also interested in finding out if the final drive housings are interchangable between 440's and 1010 machines?I have 2 extra housing's that appear the same, one has the cast #10004T (same as my 440) and the other is different (129???) but I can't make out all the #'s on it as they are worn and I don't have a 1010 parts manual to compare to.If it fits will the 440 final shafts, etc. fit in this housing and align with tracks?I am thinking of rebuilding a final drive with existing shafts from the cracked housing that was on my machine.I am not sure if this housing is from a 1010 crawler or something else.
Thanks,Crawlercrow.
Thanks,Crawlercrow.
yes it will all fit together but be aware of the casting thickness difference.
the clutch has to be adjusted pretty far compared to the other side.
someone else on this site may be able to add to this to confirm..
