I am in the middle of adjusting my right steer clutch, and I am stuck at this part in the manual...
Pull back clutch control arm until throw-out bearing just contacts the clutch fingers. Turn spring loaded rod until rod matches ball join and slip down ower joint.
How can I tell when the bearing touches the clutch fingers? I can't seem to feel it, and I can't see in there, am I looking in the right spot?
Thanks in advance,
Rick

Hi !
What I did is put a mirror and a light as far as you can into the housing
and thus you will be able to see when the thowout bearing start to touch
the clutch finger.
I have a 350 straight dry clutch system .

I have 1970 350 and rebuilt both steering clutch. the left side squaws after it warms up. I keep haveing to mess with the brake band . I back it off an the noise stops but then I'm pulling way to far back , It turns very good but the noise isn't . I like the mirrow an light idea.
I'm thinking there is something jack up on the brake band adjustment bolt.

Ken,
Once I figured out how to stand on my head to look in the inspection hole to see the throwout bearing things were ok. Slow but ok. I went one sentence at a time, and it worked.
I have an aftermarket cab which took longer every time I had to crawl out of and off the machine to grab another tool, or read the manual.
Now I just have to wait for things to dry out a little from this last rain and then back to peeling off topsoil.
