charging a mc

Post by monzanick » Sat Nov 24, 2012 6:16 pm

so i pulled the generator out my Uncles-prev owner said it was shot. I dropped the 18 bucks on ebay for new brushes and bearings. i tor it apart, found the brushes worn out, the bearings rusted up and the field had the tape falling apart. cleaned 60 years o crap out of the housing slapped on some paint an put it back together. installed an external regulator and put it back on the crawler. checked the voltage at the battery full throttle, 6.5 v. hmmmmmm it shouldn't be that low, what the heck? look over at the genny, its turning SLOW. shut everything down and look closer at the belts, gen belt PERFECT, the other belt JUNK!!!!!! dough! that'll show me for listening to stuff my uncles said 15years ago.. oh well, now for a trip to napa ta get some belts.
