Leaky blade cylinder - what do I have? Want to overhaul it

Post by emmett » Sun Sep 15, 2013 5:05 pm

Hello Levoy and everyone,

I'm ashamed to say that I've owned (and run continuously) this 1957 420C and I don't know what model blade I have on it.

Cylinder leaks. Want to rebuild it. I have the original Service Manual and Parts manuals, but nothing on the blade cylinders.

I need parts-list, then parts, then instructions. Otherwise, I'm going to just hack at it. I've got all the tools you'd need. (Replaced the drive clutch mechs and rebuilt the left final drive once).

Pix below for the expert eye to help me ID what I've got!

You have a model 62 blade. Lavoy may carry the internal parts needed. In Vermont, Charlebois can rebuild cylinders (they're pricey). PB&H in NH may also be able to help if Lavoy doesn't carry what you need. Good luck. Paul

BTW, You may want to make future posts to the "Early Model" page since you are asking about a 420.
