help!! need a starter for a 350b with diesel engine

Post by Unclebeef » Sat Nov 23, 2013 4:36 pm

Hello All, today my starter solenoid clicked and that's all it would do, so after checking voltage at starter and battery connections I pulled the starter out. I found the nose cone broken off and jammed against the flywheel teeth. I now need a new or reman starter because my core is junk. do any of you have a good part # that'll work? i'm trying to cross at a/c delco and everything is coming up obsolete?

When the same thing happend to my oliver tractor starter I welded it back together, that was three yrs ago. Put the cone on and clamp it together and spot weld it. Then take off and finnish welding, I used a wire feed, You may get by until you find another. It worked for me. good luck, rock digger
There is always another rock under this one!

Replacement Starter

Post by Arkdozer » Wed Nov 27, 2013 6:19 pm

Thought I needed a new starter for my straight 350. I checked my local parts store ( Parts City ) and they could get me a replacement starter that would be identical to the OEM starter. No modification needed. Reasonable too !!! I was blessed that it was only the solenoid.... starts great now. Good luck with yours.
