Hard starting 650 H

Post by Robin Hood » Tue Sep 30, 2014 3:26 am

Would appreciate your thoughts on this problem. We have a 2001 model 650 H dozer that has developed a bad habit of starting hard. It never started hard in the coldest of weather before this spring. You have to crank it for quite a while (30 seconds) before it will light off. Seems as though the fuel leaks down after it sits for a while. We have replaced the fuel filters and the lift pump. There are no obvious leaks anywhere. I was wondering if there are any check valves that could be leaking.

Thanks

Maybe glow plugs are bad? I would assume it has them and maybe they burned out over time?

Does it blow white smoke after starting? Injectors maybe bad. Sounds like a fuel issue in any case.
