injection pump conversion problem

Post by clifford1 » Wed Feb 04, 2015 1:30 pm

Hello all ! Has anyone done a fuel injection pump conversation on a JD 202 engine?
Cbc431_3al to a jdb431 2731? Mine is on a jd 450 crawler. If so how did you overcome the problem of the throttle lever hitting the engine block? I have to rotate the pump away from the engine so the throttle misses the block where it flares out under the exhaust manifold.
By doing this to throws out the static timing line.
The lever sticks up higher than the pump body. I don't know if I am just missing something
As it is now the pump will not sit straight up and down the way I believe it is meant too.
If you have seen this or have suggestions or fix please let me know.
All comments and suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

THANK YOU
MC

Hello!
I will be needing to do this conversion soon to my JD450. Can I ask where you found the parts? And what parts did you need?

As for your problem, would it be possible to bend the throttle lever away from the block? Without having one to see I don't know if there is even enough room between where the lever sticks up and the side of the injection pump.

A couple of pictures would be great. That way we can see what the issue is.

I don't know if this will help you but I replaced my pump and I had to reverse the throttle shaft so the arm came out the other side of the pump. It is pretty symmetrical so no new parts needed, just pull out from one side and stick in the other. This was on a 350C, do not know what the replacement pump originally came off of.

Mark is spot on with what he is saying on your conversion. You will have to move the lever to the outside of the pump. At first I wasn't sure what exactly you were saying but now it all makes sense. I am old and the "Old Timers" was kicking in I think.
You will also need a bracket and clamp that holds the throttle cable out so it will come straight in to the pump lever. The Bracket part number is ( T105319 Non Turbo or T112242 if you have a turbo ). The clamp part number is ( T33483 ). There is a 3/8" X 1 5/8" bolt that goes through the two halves of the clamp to clamp the cable and also hold the clamp to the bracket. The bracket then fastens to two of the rearward bottom exhaust manifold bolts. I don't remember which two but they are the rear bolts. You should be able to tell which ones when you fasten the clamp and cable to the bracket. You may already have these parts. I don't remember how the cables were held on the CBC pumps. If you do then you can disregard what I have just said. However I hope this helps and sorry I was so dazed and confused at first.
