I am wondering what tricks you folks have come up with for removing the outer race on the upper final drive bearing. I have the one out of the final drive housing. I am just looking for suggestions on the other one before I try it myself. We were thinking heating the outside and seeing if it will drop out.
Here's a picture for reference.
Thanks!

Yep - slide hammer kit will do the trick.
Typically a local parts store(advance, autozone, etc) will "loan" these types of tool kits out. I made several trips to my local parts store to utilize the service and keep costs in line.

You can run a hot bead around the inside with an arc welder and the bearing will fall out--no fuss no muss.

I guess I will be making an end for my slide hammer tomorrow. There's not much local for those types of kits but I do have a slide hammer and am not scared to fab something up.
Thanks!

Welder works great, but I have a internal bearing puller as well.

The welder trick saved my tail when I was working on an old Case hay rake. It amazed me how easy the old race just fell out.
