JD 550A. What fluid do I use in the trans?

What fluid do I Use in the transmission and does anyone know what NAPA filter it uses?

John Deere HyGuard or any good "Tractor Hydraulic Fluid." If you are using NAPA, I use their Tractor hydraulic fluid or the one in the green and yellow bucket. There is also Valvoline "Unitrac", JD Street and others. As for the filter, NAPA should be able to look that up for you or go to JDparts.com and find the Deere number and have it crossed.
40 plus years working on JD 350s, 400Gs, 450s and other equipment both Ag and Construction.

On the stick it seams way thicker than hydro. Feels more like 30

IT could have 303 in it now which is thicker than HyGuard and may be what the 550 called for when built .....HyGuard is the latest greatest version of trans hyd fluid and replaces 303TDH...... Hyd fluid should have a different smell than 30WT
