Reusing Piston Pins
Reusing Piston Pins
I'm up to the point of reassembling the engine on my 1010CA project and I'm wondering about reusing the piston pins. All of the pins mic out within limits but the book says to always replace the pins when replacing pistons. The easy answer is to just do what the book says but at $27 a pop for new pins, I'm sort of struggling. Any thoughts?

I also agree with Jimmy and Lavoy. Any part that wears developes a wear pattern to its mating surface. So a used pin will not match up real well to the bore on a new piston (might have high/low spots) and may cause premature failure. Example would be to always use new lifters with a new cam.
