JD 450b- Limb Risers Mounts
JD 450b- Limb Risers Mounts
Hi, I purchased a ROPS for my JD450b and it came with limb risers, but not the mounts for the cowl. Does anyone have a line on a pair of mounts, before I trying making some? I am also looking for the forestry type exhaust stack that follows the limb risers. Thanks

Can't you take a riser to your favorite muffler shop with a couple measurements and get a pipe bent to fit?

I needed an exhaust pipe for my limb risers, also. I didn't have a copy part. I did what gregjo1948 suggested. I ended up bending a 3/8" rod in the general shape etc. took it to the exhaust shop and had them bend a pipe. I took the pipe home and put it on. Every angle and bend was off abit. I started at the exhaust pipe, cutting, bending, and brazing. I worked all the angles until I got to the exhaust tip. I them took that pattern back to the exhaust shop and had them bend another new pipe. This one turned out much better and was usable.
Is the front post of your ROPS straight vertical or leaned back a bit? I assume your risers didn't come off your current machine, keep in mind there could be different style of ROPS from machine to machine. I also thought there is a difference bxt loader and dozers?? I wish I had extra parts to help. You could try calling SEWL in IL. Good luck, Bruce

Re: JD 450b- Limb Risers Mounts
Thanks for your replies guys. I bought the dozer without a ROPS, and found one online from an equipment salvage yard. On the phone he made it sound like it was just a normal style (no limb risers). I went to pick it up and was surprised to see it had the risers attached still but no lower mounts where they attach to the cowl, the yard didn't have them. Id like to have them on there but not having much luck finding them. As far as the exhaust goes, I can barrow one off of a 450c if I need to to copy it, and I pulled a limb riser mount off that machine to try and copy it. The mounts appear partially cast and aren't as easy to copy as I would like. If anyone knows of a salvage yard that has those mounts or a person who wants to part with them shoot me a message. Thanks again.

Oh yes, you are very fortunate to have extras you can use off another crawler. The hard nose mounts for the sweeps are going to be a challenge. I wish you happy collecting, Bruce

Why can't you use heavy gauge pipe slid over the ends of the risers, then cut and weld heavy flat stock to the pipe. Attach it to the machine and go look for some limbs.
