Right side steering clutch sticks after turning to that side it will free up if I wiggle the other side or back up and pull forward I have the cultches adjusted to what I believe to be pretty good it has free play and will coast backwards on a hill be for the brakes grab.... could the linkage be sticking or the pressure plate it’s self sticking .... no slippage when shoving first as long as I don’t try to turn to the right hard

Re: JD 350
Not sure what you mean that the clutch is sticking. Are you saying the lever doesn't return forward or the
right side track isn't driving as it should?

Sorry .... the lever returns forward fine .... it is acts like the
Lever is still pulled the dozer wants to keep turning to the right

Re: JD 350
Sounds like adjustment or rust. Pull back on right steer lever then release a few dozen times and if it goes away it was rust. If it doesn't then re-do adjustment procedure.

Forgot to add this part: Pull back and release a few dozen time while moving forward and reverse.

My 2 cents. Just had the right steering overhauled on my 350 last spring. My problem was that when the right steering lever was pulled back, no turning would take place. The mechanic said a large part of my inability to steer was that the clutch discs were gummed up badly with oil/grease/debris etc. and would not properly release. Brake pads were also worn but main issue was the gummed up clutch.
Good luck

Re: JD 350
It steers to the right if I crank down the brake adjustment ... I am leaning towards the pressure plate fingers are a bit out of wack ... tinkered on her most of the day but due to the weather it never left the garage .... I think I can adjust them in just a little and gain the release I need to fully disengage throw out bearing ... I got it like this some times it works . Some times it does nt release... you have to full with it to get both tracks clicking together .... I hosed it all down with brake clearer as well ... as long as I don’t yank the right clutch all is well you just have to pull threw free play and bump it to turn to the right and not stick it

Re: JD 350
When adjusting--1st make sure the throwout bearing is clear of the pressure plate fingers--next make sure the clutch is releasing when you pull the lever--then adjust the brake

Hi,
Originally Deere 303. These days, HyGard. All the tractor supply stores have both. The HyGard type costs a bit more, but it is better.

Re: JD 350
There is no spring tension on the right steering clutch arm that moves the throw out bearing ... the side that has sticky steering ... the left side steers great and has spring tention on it ... is there a spring inside the throw out bearing housing to retract it... like the one on the engine transmission...
Re: JD 350
No, the spring is on the vertical shaft, but does the same thing.

Re: JD 350
Is the spring under the adjuster or down further on the shaft
Re: JD 350
It looks pretty far down on the shaft. Have you used a micro-lubricant on all of the pivot points to help relieve any binding or corrosion? Take care to avoid contaminating the dry clutches and brake band.
go to jdpc.deere.com
search for "350"
select the 350 crawler
select the sectional index
go to section 45-steering brakes and final drives
Look at pages 2,3,4 and 5.
page 3 is for brake linkage. #24 is a brake spring that should release the brake band.
page 4 is forced Dearing linkage. #7 is the spring on the vertical shaft that Lavoy has mentioned.
Page 5 is steering lever assembly
page 6 is steering clutch assembly
I hope this is helpful, Bruce
