Thank you Bruce. I appreciate it. My power is back on. The crews here are pretty amazing. I have another day cleaning the shop. I plan on getting your stuff done right after. I am slow but if I don't clean up now, I will never find anything later. :)
I had a whole winter to misplace stuff.

Ok, I am almost done making the parts for Btown and Timmtnman. Once the paint dries (not painted yet) in a week or so, I will send them.
I am going to put a stop on any more of this work from the covid 19 issues. It is hitting our area. I intend to put these kits on ebay later this summer. There will be a fair price increase, but if you identify yourself as a JD crawlers member I will offer a discount. Given how many days it takes me to make these, the 85 dollar price tag is going to have to be a thing of the past. I wanted to offer a great deal given the first run of these reproductions. Since there were some wrinkles to identify. That has been done and now two versions are getting made. And I thank all the members who helped. Without Bruce and Stan, it never would have happened. :)
I had better go get something done...

Thank you.
Al

Hello oldmetalmender,

The straps and the board(plate) arrived. The package was in good shape. And the parts fit the wider battery box very well.

Thank you, Bruce

Very good to hear Bruce. Glad a solution was able to be found.
It was fun doing the vandalism covers and these tool trays. Thanks to everyone that ordered one and a big thanks to you guys that helped me with making it happen by sending me the OEM stuff. If any issues ever pop up for anyone that ordered a kit. Let me know and I will always make it right.
Cheers and stay well.
Al :)

Thank you Tim!
Glad to hear it. Been busy building another jeep truck. I had not checked in here for a bit.
I will get going on the battery tray's very soon. I pulled mine out of my 450C and there was not enough left to even measure. So Thanks for sending me yours. Looks like I need to run back to the metal supplier. I almost had enough to do them. I will keep you posted.
Thanks for the feedback on the tool tray. :)

Hi all,

Believe it or not I am now in the middle of rebuilding my battery box on my 450C and had a question, 1-does anyone have a pic they would share of the actual battery plate they sit in?? 2-AL do you have anymore trays and hold downs??
God Bless
Todd

Hi Todd,

I made this tray yesterday.
Image

It is one of 4 for Timmtnman. Some things to note. Original trays are 14GA and the one you see is 16GA which was OK'ed by Tim. I have yet to go get a half sheet of 14GA, but intend to to see how the fabrication goes with the thicker metal. 14 GA is to thick for my shear and bending brake. I may nix making them from 14GA because I will have to plasma cut and spend a long time cleaning up edges to look machine cut. It already takes me 2.5 hours for one tray using the mentioned tools. I also don't have the hold down rods. I saw one rod on my 450 and will review if I can reproduce them and include them later. All unknown for now. My battery box is also in terrible shape from battery acid and corrosion. I too need to spend some time fixing and sealing metal. Probably a good thing for crawler owners to examine for a weekend project. Pull the battery and have a look.

I should mention I have a lot going on with getting firewood up and getting our garden going and a few other seasonal must do now things.
There is not enough time in the day. So if you want a tray and can wait for just a bit I will get another done. I do try to get them done in a semi reasonable time frame. I don't like waiting for my stuff either. Just remember for now they are 16GA. I can send them unpainted, painted with JD old construction yellow, or coated with a ceramic black cerakote. The cerakote is kind of expensive, but durable as heck. I do not know at this point how cerakote handles battery acid or fumes. I use it on a LOT of car parts and it is my go to satin black coating. There is a 5 day cure for the cerakote. I am still trying to figure out a price. Everything I make is hand made one at a time. Please PM me if you want one. Thanks for asking.

They look great Al. I think the 16 gauge will work great with no problems at all. Mainly there to keep it from sliding around.

Thanks Tim,

Yes I think as long as they are kept painted and essentially sealed, they should last a good while. I would almost consider a 3/32 or 1/8 thick sheet of neoprene under the battery. Maybe even tool drawer liner with an open weave to breathe. Random thoughts to try and preserve.... Anyway, 16GA is not thin and should be great. Just for grins, the outside dimensions of the finished battery tray are 7 1/8 X 13 5/8 I have been test fitting each one on my 450C battery box. So far so good and setting your OEM tray back to back shows a perfect size match. I hope to finish them all today. Thank you Tim for being patient. :)

So Tim (Timmtnman) sends me a picture of his old tool tray and the new one I sent him. Honestly I think he could have gotten a few more years out of his old one.

The rust hole is just begging for some duct tape.

Fantastic picture Tim.
