batteries on jd450 1965
Today I checked my 2 12volt batteries and they are in series which should give 24volts,my question can I use a 12 ignition switch also is it suppose to be in series Thanks Bearchopper

I would suggest you unhook the batteries and do some more checking. I am quite sure it should be a 12 volt system and the batteries should be in parallel as was posted the other day. The parts catalog shows 12 volt starter and alternator. If they are in series I would say someone hooked the batteries up wrong. The starter may have a Delco Remy tag on it, which can be checked. The alternator may have a tag or numbers stamped in the case.
Just for reference, the same ignition switch can work for 6, 12 or 24 volts.

I will check the starter and the alternator and see if they are 12v Thanks Jim B Bearchopper
