555g grouser pads
New to me 555g with a 4 in 1 bucket and rippers on the back being delivered Friday. 6000 hrs. New undercarriage and overall appears in good shape. My question is this. If I wanted a wide track machine is it as simple as changing the pads or is the track frame wider on wide track models?

Re: 555g grouser pads
The cross members are welded to the main frame. Only option would be to flip the sprockets so they dish outwards then build weld on extensions to the current cross members. Would result in the machine being nose high and would need to be built heavy. Have a 455G and thought about doing this in the past but ended up building more widepad dozers with hoes instead. Then buy pads to match or cut wider ones to fit. 18” would be the right width for me.
