Early MC blade Lift Cylinders Rebuild Help

Post by JDMarty » Fri Sep 06, 2024 12:15 pm

I am trying to rebuild my set of (probably Holt) lift cylinders that mount inside the tracks. I have a 1949 MC. The hydraulic shop is stuck and I am looking for help with two questions about disassembling them. I have no documentation but I do have pictures of where we are in the disassembly process. They are casting marked N111Y and N112Y and both have JD logos on them. If anyone on here thinks they might be able to help me get these apart, it would be greatly appreciated.
1. The rotating lift arm on one is stuck and won't come out. From looking at the one that did come out, I see no retaining rings or other holding mechanism. Should I just press this shaft out? I don't want the casting to break of course.
2. The arms that slide on to the spline of these rotating shafts are also stuck. Are these also just to be pressed off?

My conservative approach here is that I have one chance of doing this without doing it wrong and I have no documentation.

Thanks in advance,

Marty

I suggest calling (701-361-0=1006 during CST business hours) or emailing (postmaster@jdcrawlers.com) Lavoy directly, he might have seen or have info about the set up you have.

If by inside the tracks you mean the horizontal tool carrier cylinders, those are John Deere, and I believe the info on them is in the service manual. Mine is MIA, so I can't check.
