450 rear cross bar
jd 450 is the rear track cross bar bolted or pinned to the machine? it looks like to see the center where theres a bracket on it i would need to drop the belly pan. anyone got a picture of it? i think whatever holds it centered may be broken on my machine. thanks, matt
Re: 450 rear cross bar
Welcome to the Boards.
The rear crossbar is held to the machine by two brackets that have bolt on caps as well as the retainer clips you see at the outer ends.
I don't have any actual pictures of a 450 crossbar. Here is a link to the straight 450 Parts Catalog PC922. You can find the cross bar and parts in it.

I suggest you get a copy of the Service Manual (John Deere publication # SM2064).

Re: 450 rear cross bar
many thanks for the reply, and pics. i hate to just junk it, it runs great, no leaks, and the tracks, rollers and sprockets look like new, but aligning the tracks seems like beyond my limited experience. Time to start stripping parts off of her. Anyhow, thanks again for your reply, Matt

Thanks for your reply. Hate to junk the old girl, but aligning the tracks seems beyond my skill level. I'll start stripping parts, and look for a better machine. Thank-you, Matt

Re: 450 rear cross bar
btw, i ran my machine for 2 years before i noticed the cap an one of the brackets holding the rear cross bar on was missing. One of four bolts was gone. The other 3 were snapped off, and had to be drilled and tapped. I thought the bolt or pin that holds it centered might be broken , but to check meant removing the belly pan. which looked like .... probably more snapped bolts.
