Got so mad I shot it didn't hurt it though.

Post by Mknmecrazy » Sat Oct 12, 2024 6:17 pm

So I got a crawler gas and it stopped running no spark so I replaced a bunch of distributor parts but the thing back in and it'll run for maybe 30 seconds and then just Peter out and then it won't start again also my distributor waffles really bad and didn't do that before I removed it mess with it and put it back in I thought maybe I was 180 off so I turned it another 180 10:00 wise. That didn't work I guess I could try turning it clockwise. It seems as though the housing can chase the thing around there's quite a bit of leeway there. I've been doing this for days and I'm about to go crazy and I mean like 80 hours deep. I hate to sing so much right now that I want to sell it and wish I'd never bought it been great to talk to her until now. If I don't figure it out soon. Now I'm done with my little pity party I'm going to go back out there I'm going to rotate it 180 clockwise want to make sure there's plenty of gas in it the gas shut offs are on and maybe I don't know feed the thing of urgency if that helps. A sacrifice to the tractor God. Lol any help would be much appreciated thank you

Sounds like the spark plugs might be fouling out ? try to take them out and clean them up then put them back in and try starting it again. Also check the fuel system sediment bowl and fuel line

Hi,

Take a look at the filter screen at the input of the carb. You remove the fuel line then the fitting where it connects to the carb. There is a filter screen on the end of the fitting inside the carb body.

By having it run for a bit then quit makes me think the issue is the fuel is dribbling past a clogged screen. It fills the bowl while you are messing with the ignition, then runs out soon after starting.

Those screens will drive you crazy. And, IIRC, they are only pointed out as being there in the M service manual and in the parts catalog list. Keep in mind that the JD service manuals expect you have the previous manuals for the line.

Good point Stan. His 2010 would have one, if someone hasn't removed it/changed the fitting.

Hi,

Ah,yes. 2010. That screen may be covered in the 2010 SM. That was a whole new model at the time. So, no earlier manuals in the series.

Unless JD figured that dealers servicing the 2010 had a set of manuals from earlier machines where this was already covered and so left it out of the 2010 SM.

That's always an issue with JD service manuals: they expect you already know certain things and so leave some references out.

Well, they were intended for the dealer mechanics, not the DIY prevalent now, so most shops would have had the manuals for previous models. The bigger question is how we managed without YouTube to help us years ago.

Turns out I'm a dumbass. I should have taken pictures beforehand. My distributor was 180° off. When I put it in wrong the wobble was so bad that although it ran it was not correct so I pulled the distributor turned it 180 put it back in and adjusted so that number one was making contact just before the dead center and the thing runs great now. Turns out I corrected a problem but I didn't know existed because it runs better and stays cooler. Thanks for all the help everyone.
