Hey all,
What makes the floats collapse in on these Marvel-Schebler carbs?
If they are dry and not leaking and only slightly concave on one side do they still exert as much pressure on the fuel shutoff needle? Is this a reason for the fuel leakdown problem or are they by design not boyant enough to keep the needle valve closed tight enough on the seat?

Awhile back I came across an explanation someone had given for this....brass floats will be collapsed if water accumulates in the float bowl and freezes. It takes quite a bit of water to do this but apparently it does happen. The ice expands and pushes upwards against the float which it can`t go any higher so it collapses.
